Slice is a slide dissolve work using two projectors that sit at opposite ends of the gallery projecting sequences of images onto three semi-translucent screens that lie between them. The projected slides rise from one side then dissolve into images rising from the other side. The images start with one of the top of the head and image by image move through the whole body to the toes then the reverse happens working back to the head. As the sequence develops, changes happen, the images work from realistic representations to more abstract diffuse forms, the body seems to move, colours change.
Slowly, photographs appear on suspended screens of voile, set in different configurations for each work, and short narrative works are revealed in an evolving animation. The basic formula for the works is that two projectors are used facing each other. A slide appears from one side and then the other side, the images fall on layered screens in between the projectors, one image coming from one end and then the next arising from the other extremity, as the first image falls away.
